Things that I like to do

Here are the top three things I like to do:

1) Read books (I'm currently reading the Long Tail)
2) Break things (I broke my ipod)
3) Create things ( I created http://www.nametaggs.com )

I also like to make lists but it doesn't fall into my top three things I like to do. :)

Everything else remaining the same | Are tall people more likely to succeed than short people?

Tallshort
Everything remaining the same, are tall people most likely to succeed in corporations, than short people? I have seen a lot of executive teams where the members are relatively tall. There are not that many short people(shorter than 5'5). Do you feel that tall people find it easier to obtain upper level management positions? Is it their height that plays a role or complementary factors that are associated to height such as confidence, intimidation, motivation etc.

Your experience on the internet is based on your Use Cases

Each person's experience on the net is different from the next person. It's because  we have different uses and different requirements from one another as to what the internet can help us achieve and provide for us.

Here are a list of 10 Use cases for people on the net, I'm sure there are plenty more but to prove my point, all I need is a list of 10:

UC -1 To purchase items online
UC -2 To sell items online
UC -3 To communicate with my friends
UC -4 To find a date
UC -5 To listen to media.
UC -6 To view media.
UC -7 To build a service.
UC -8 To spam people with information.
UC -9 To hack/steal peoples information.
UC -10 To build a company.

Given the use cases above, it's easy to see that there are many functions that we can perform on the net. What makes me bored on the internet then? I view practically the same websites  daily: Techmeme, Techcrunch, Yahoo, Youtube, Google and then I wonder off by clicking on links that come from those sites.

Am I bored because my Use cases don't change? Possibly. How do I get around that? People create new services and new functions like Twitter and StumbleUpon.  How  many  good functions get  created  a year? It's probably one or two at best. Sorry to sound so technical, but everything else is just a wrapper around the same use case.

To establish a great product going forward, people have to look at the Use Cases and build up. Let's stop wrapping around the same ones over and over again. I think we can enhance everyones experience on the net incrementally, by doing this.

If you don't know about Techcrunch it's a great blog that provides up-to-date news on technology and they have recently been known to report on political issues such as the upcoming election. Click here to go to Techcrunch

Thinking outside the box(icons)

Let's conduct an exercise shall we. There was a day when the number of icons on my desktop  was about to surpass  the limit allowed to  be displayed on the screen. I thought to myself, what would happen if the number of  current icons, c_1 , exceeded the maximum allowable, c_n, such that c_1 >c_n where n is a number calculated by n= m x k , for some  m,k equal to the width, height of screen in pixels. (I actually thought about the math proof as I came from a computer science background). Then I thought to myself, what would be the behaviour? It forced be to think outside the box.

1) Would the computer explode, switch to a blue screen with a system error and all my files would be deleted because of some memory system error exception?
2) Would the icons find themselves in between the spaces of the existing icons?
3) Would all the icons become smaller so they all could fit the screen?
4) Would the most recent icons stop showing up?
5) Would the oldest icons be removed as new ones were added?

I am not going to tell you the answer. Think outside the box. Or better yet, think outside the icons.
However, you are welcome to share other questions you may have regarding what could possibly happen to the icons! For the love of G*d, won't someone think about the icons!
