Who the hell is Kristen Goetz?

I was asking myself this last week when I was researching Toronto websites for upcoming initiatives that I will be involved with at http://www.lovifieds.com .

Kristen writes at http://www.loveintoronto.com, and as well, she has a blog at http://kristengoetz.blogspot.com and writes about, well, nothing, kind of. She seemed like a very random person, so I sent her an e-mail to see if she would like to be profiled on http://www.nametaggs.com. She's a ranter, and an interesting one for that matter. Take a look at Oh My God, Becky.. Look At Her Butt... and Sometimes I DO Get Off My Ass , which is slightly more charitable.

She was really kind enough to answer some questions for me  and I posted them at the featured member section of Nametaggs at http://www.nametaggs.com/featured .

Thank you Kristen for being part of the Nametaggs community. You have definitely earned a spot on my blog roll. Maybe someone should register www.whothehelliskristengoetz.com similar to the www.ihatesarahmarshall.com and have a movie about you.  Think about it...

Until another day.

5 Questions for Johnchow.com

For anyone who doesn't know, Johnchow.com is written by John Chow. That may be a weird statement but it is true. It's weird since you probably don't know who he is, but for anyone who does know him, probably asks the question, how can you not know about him?

Johnchowandzune

His blog boasts a very high RSS subscriber numbers, in excess of 20k+ .

I myself have 5 questions for John Chow, the man, the mogul.

1) John, you probably don't remember this, but I e-mailed you once and you replied. Why is it important to reply to the fans of your blogs, and have you set a personal mandate to reply to all messages that your fans send you?

2) Your blog is about making money. Has there been an incident where someone has approached you where you had to turn their ad dollars down because it didn't fit in with the theme of your blog?

3) Do you think your results can be replicated in another subject such as sports or knitting? Or do you think the success that you have been privileged to have is tightly coupled with the making money factor?

4) Many people will say that you are a success in making money online. How do you define success, and do you consider yourself successful?

5) What type of conferences or events do you attend to reach out to your audience offline? Are there any events that you will be going to in the upcoming months?

I'm just an "average joe" fan of John Chow. Let's see if John Chow responds to this posting, whether it be through a posting on his blog or commenting here.

Digg this!

The 5 Advantages of Blogging

There are many advantages that come as a result of blogging. Here is a list of 5 reasons why you should blog:

1) Meeting new people. With the web being so ubiquitous, if you have an opinion on a certain topic or are a knowledge champion in your field, rest assured people will flock to your homepage. They will come from all parts of the world and have a diverse set of opinions to contribute to your homepage. Your social network will definitely expand  and you will feel pretty good that the content that you are creating is being read and being found valuable by others.

2) Improving ones grammatical skills. Let's face it, many people need to improve their writing and communication skills. Through the art of blogging and editing, if one keeps consistent at it, they are bound to improve their communication skills.

3) Relieving stress. After a long days work, blogging is definitely an outlet that you can use to unwind and talk about what pissed you off during your day. Most likely, there is someone who is going through the same thing as you. Share your frustrations and black jellybeans with the world and you will see an unexpected reciprocation of ripe strawberries.

4) Learning more about a certain topic. The great things about blogs is that if you don't know something or don't know much about a topic, you will attract people who know a lot about it and can give their personal view on it.

5) Making money through advertising and affiliate marketing. Many blogs that you read have some sort of advertising or affiliate marketing model included in it. Some people blog for the sole purpose of making money. It sometimes gets in the way of the content that is being published on ones site. However, blogs have huge potential of making money, and can be a great way to supplement income.

If you're currently not a blogger, I hope you at least try it once after reading my post!

Struggle in Blogging : Toronto and technology

As a new blogger, I find it hard to come up with things to talk about. Maybe it's because there is so many things to talk about that random things come to mind. This could probably be a bad thing to gain a loyal readership base since my readers won't know what is coming from me. Some of the material may interest them and some of the material may not interest them. So really, from now on I will blog about Toronto and Technology. Anything related to those two topics I will write about and leave the rest to the more experienced and the avid enthusiast.
